Dear Coach:
The 28th edition of the Manchester
Coca-Cola/Adidas Invitational Cross Country Classic Meet for boys and girls will
be held on Saturday morning, September 28, 2002 at Derryfield Park on
Bridge Street in Manchester, NH. This
meet will include athletes from New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts,
Connecticut, New York, California and Vermont.
We hope that your team or some of its members will be able to
compete. Entry procedure, fees, rules,
and minimum standards are listed below.
Have your bus take you directly to Hillside Junior High School on
Reservoir Avenue. The first race will
commence at 9:00 a.m. sharp.
I. place: Derryfield Park,
Bridge Street, Manchester, NH.
II. TIME: Meet
starts at 9:00 a.m. Course tours, with
guides, will start at 8:00 a.m. with last departure at 8:30 a.m. sharp. COACHES: please pick up team packets by 8:30 a.m., even
if you do not have J.V./Freshmen entries, and return completed forms by 8:45
a.m.
III. COURSE: This
course includes grass, asphalt, and dirt with sufficient hills and two steeple
chase barriers.

IV. ENTRIES: Entries
are limited to 21 per girls’ team and 21 per boys’ team total (maximum of 7
runners in each race―A/Elite/B/Freshmen).
V. ENTRY Please
list all competitors by their full name and grade. Every race (A or Elite, B,
PROCEDURES: and Freshmen) will be computerized,
so I need the name of each runner. It is not necessary to designate the
race athletes will compete in. FOR
NEW HAMPSHIRE TEAMS AND OTHERS REGISTERED WITH DIRECT ATHLETICS: ALL ENTRIES
MUST BE DONE ON DIRECT ATHLETICS. Others
must fax entry form to Rich Nagy at 603-623-3074.

VI. DIVISIONS: There will be two divisions in the Boys' A race and Girls' A races. The divisions will be "Large" School Division (800 and up) and "Small" School Division (under 800). It is possible to petition up to the Large School Division, but not down. If you would like to petition up, please include a letter stating your case. There will be an Elite race for girls and boys. You must fill out the form to request entry in these races.

VIII. SCORING: In
each race, the top five individuals will determine a team's score. Entries in the races will be limited to
seven runners. The National Federation
Rule 9 concerning displacement will apply.
There will be team scores in all races.
IX. ELIGIBILITY: According to the NHIAA Handbook.

will be T-shirts for sale on a
first-come basis. We will also take
orders by phone.
XI. DRESSING Please
bring your team dressed and ready to
run. No locker room facilities will
FACILITIES: be available. Restroom facilities will be available at the
field.
XII. ENTRY FEE: The
entry fee will be $50 (fifty dollars) for each
boys' and girls' team. (Maximum school
entry: $100) Please make checks payable
to Doug Glance, Central Cross Country,
and all checks for each team must be mailed to Doug Glance at 171 Day Street,
Manchester, NH 03104. Entry fee must accompany mailed entry form. All schools must mail an entry form to
Doug Glance, even if you enter by Direct Athletics. Only teams that have pre-paid or have
pre-submitted a purchase order, or pay or show a purchase order at the meet,
will be allowed to run.
XIII. ENTRY DEADLINE: Return official entry form (see attached) with your check to
Doug Glance, and N.H. teams must also register on Direct Athletics no later
than Friday, September 13, 2002. Entries
received after that date will be
charged a late entry fee of $50. No forms will be accepted after Saturday,
September 21, 2002. It is not
necessary to designate your top seven who will run in the "A" race.
This meet has been sanctioned by the
National Federation.
This meet will be held regardless of
weather conditions. The weather would
have to be very bad to even consider
postponing a meet of this size.
However, in the event of a hurricane, tornado, flash flood, or blizzard
(typical New England weather in September), the meet would be held on Sunday,
September 29, 2002 at 1:00 p.m., but
don't count on it!
Coaches: Please be sure to include home address, home phone, and
school phone on the entry form. Please
arrive early and pick up packets immediately.
There are forms that must be completed.
